About the springs:

FM springs are well known for providing a good balance of street ability and track performance. Their combination of ride height - giving the suspension room to work - and spring rate means your Miata will ride and handle better than you would expect from a set of performance springs.

There's more going on than you think, though. See that section with the tighter coils? Those are designed to act as a secondary spring, keeping the spring from going loose under full droop. While these rates might sound high compared to some other springs on the market, they are stiff enough to keep your car off the bumpstops. Softer springs will often give a worse ride because they allow you to blow through your suspension travel and end up on the stops. We've specified a powdercoat with a high zinc content for extra corrosion resistance, too.

How much will they lower your car? We can't tell you, because Mazda changed the ride height of Miatas over the years. However, if you measure from the center of the wheel to the fender lip, you can compare your car to the final result. It's not a huge drop but once you drive the car you'll appreciate how well it works.

Includes a complete set of our upgraded bump stops.

Specifications for the NC
Front springs: 300 lb/in
Rear springs: 196 lb/in
Front ride height: 13.5"
Rear ride height: 13"

About the shocks:

The Koni Sport shocks have adjustable rebound so you can crank them up when you're feeling frisky on the autocross course. They come with a lifetime warranty.

About the sway bars:

Sway bars are used to make your car corner flatter and react faster by keeping the body (and all the weight) under control. Ours are set up for neutral handling and are adjustable so you can tailor the handling of your Miata to your own driving style. Our swaybars are hot formed from 4140 CrMo spring steel. This means they're stronger than the cold-formed bars found elsewhere. We've designed them to keep the same handling balance as your stock sways, but they have two settings in the front and three in the rear for fine-tuning. Includes brackets and urethane bushings with waterproof grease. The NC are hollow front and rear, with sizes of 1" front and 0.75" rear. These sizes are typically not harsh enough to cause damage to the stock swaybar mounting points.

Shouldn’t be surprised, but I am.

Exactly what you’d expect from FlyinMiata, so much bestness. This kit is the sweet spot for NC suspension, gets rid of all the slop and weird body motions of the stock Bilsteins without being punishing. The ride is stiffer than the stock sport suspension, but in many situations I found the FM kit to provide a more pleasant ride just because it’s so much less sloppy. Prior to the install, I lacked confidence driving my stock NC2 on Mazda’s sport suspension and this kit completely changed that. Driving on undulating, high speed mountain roads, I never found myself second guessing my inputs, nor did I find myself wanting or let down by the suspension when really leaning on it. Ride height is not significantly lower than before so the car can still perform all the normal tasks of a daily driver and still leaves some room for underbody bracing without dragging the belly on everything, huge win for me. This suspension matches the car perfectly in regards to street driving and I would recommend it to anyone looking to make their ride more competent without losing daily drivability. Real world solution to the NCs stock suspension issues.

Installed and 55 miles…

Definitely….DEFINITELY…watch the install video that Flyin’ Miata posted to youtube. Hugely helpful. Then buy a 19mm ratcheting end wrench, STURDY spring compressors (not Harbor Freight), order new spring isolators and go to work.

So far, love the ride and sway bar-reduced roll. Better than stock, but keeo an eye out for dpeed bumps and driveway inclines. I can tell I will probably need to get a chassis brace, but later.

Fantastic Upgrade

I was shocked at how Buick-like my NC Miata suspension was with all the roll and wallow. This kit replaces just about all the suspension and results in a very nice handling yet compliant riding sports car. The adjustable sway bars and shocks allow a lot of adjustment. I run the shocks full soft (which matches the spring rate) and went a little stiffer with the sway bar setting than what FM suggests and I'm very happy with the ride. For you number crunchers I analyzed the roll stiffness of this kit and it's various settings versus the stock setup here: https://robrobinette.com/MX-5_Miata_NC_.htm

A very good option to improve handling with no downside.

I had the Stage II Koni suspension package installed by Eurosport in Norman, OK about a month ago. I have a 2014 PRHT Grand Touring edition vehicle with manual transmission and suspension option. I had the installer set the shocks on full soft and the anti-sway bars at the full tension settings. Prior to the install the car was incredibly "willowy". Every motion was accompanied by extraneous movement in the opposite direction, with body roll being amplified. With the new set up, the "willowy" movements are gone. The degree of change in the ride quality is almost imperceptible. I chose not to go to the coil overs because of the general condition of the streets I drive on daily and previous experiences with ride harshness that was distracting when not actively pushing the car to the limit. This set up provides control in corners that is fun, but with no downside in cruising quality. I have a STi that is carrying VERY stiff springs and shocks that talks to you over every acorn you encounter. This is more like what I would have expected the Miata factory suspension option to be than the spaghetti they provided. I would recommend this to Miata NC owners who want to tighten up their cars with no downside in daily driving manners.

Happy with products, could have avoided a delay.

Performs as promised. Your install videos were very good, but when I dismantled my NC, I found that at 95k miles, my spring isolators were perished, and calls to 5 Mazda dealers found none in stock. Car sat on jack stands for a week waiting for parts. Video rightly suggests new bumps and shock bushings (mine were trashed), but just assumed these other rubber parts were reusable. I suggest advising customers to inspect these parts before ordering, and even stock and offer them as optional the way you do your bump stops.

Note from FM: Thanks for letting us know!
