Description
The stock throttle wheel on a Miata gives a 1:1 relationship between pedal position and butterfly position. But what you really want is a 1:1 relationship between pedal position and airflow, and thus torque output. Since the butterfly is a flat plate in a cylinder, the initial opening provides a disproportionate amount of airflow. At the top end, you see a similar non-linearity.
This new throttle wheel remaps the pedal to butterfly relationship so that the airflow entering the engine is more accurately mapped to your throttle pedal and thus torque production. This means more precision at both the low and high end of the range. This is especially useful for high power cars or cars with tricky clutches. You see the same sort of mapping in cars with drive-by-wire throttles, but this is done mechanically.
Due to the fact that this modifies the rate at which the throttle plate opens, it is technically not legal in California and we cannot ship there.
Fits all 1995-97 throttle bodies. Bolt-on installation with the stock cable.

~5 minute install including a throttle cable adjustment(consider it required). Off idle change is subtle. High rpm high load change is noticeable and welcome. The last 25% of the throttle now has actual modulation compared to stock. Bonus that cruise control does not care about the change.
Fantastic product absolutely helps with gas mileage, and acceleration, so wonderful product!
Easy to install, fits well (snug fit onto throttle stud). It makes it much easier to drive leisurely at low RPM. One interesting side-effect is that the throttle plate closing spring force is lower when the throttle is closed and higher when the throttle is open. It not necessarily a bad thing but is a noticeable change.
