Description
Splitters keep air from getting under the car. Diffusers accelerate it out behind the wheels. But without side skirts, air can get sucked in from the sides of the car and decreases the effectiveness of these parts.
Side skirts ensure the low pressure area extends much further under the car, and that means less lift. But these CFD-optimized parts are a lot more complex than the simple horizontal board you usually see.
These skirts also include a carbon fiber vertical fin to control the turbulent air coming off the front tire. There are also two under-skirt aerofoils - one to deflect air from the front wheel outwards, and a second to deflect air away from the rear wheel. There's also a spat in front of the rear wheel to cut down on drag.
The effect is a considerable extension of the low pressure zone under the car, which means less lift and more traction. The CFD rendering shows the difference between a Miata with the RGR splitter, spats and diffuser - the dark blue is the area of lowest pressure, which is what you're looking for.
Made of milled Delrin, carbon fiber and aluminum. Installation is fairly easy. Note that there are two versions, one for NBs with the factory appearance package that covers the rockers (aka "Tupperware") and one for cars without. The "Tupperware" version covers both the small NB1 Tupperware and the larger NB2 Tupperware - in other words, if you have any factory appearance parts on the side of your NB, you'll need the Tupperware version.

Great product! The carbon fiber weave is nice and there were no misweaves or anything in it. Product installed great, some of the pictures are really dark and hard to make out. Took about 2hrs from start to passenger side install, then about 30m to do the driver's side. I ended up using 3 washers and had to straighten out my pinch welds some. Letting it sit overnight with painters tape for the VHB to set. It is not mentioned in the instructions but you need to contour the rear wheel spats so the tape sticks well. I thought the passenger side was crooked but it turns out the bolts were tight but not tightened up to the body. Came out GREAT! Would love an option to have the CF slats in the same black as the skirts as this is the only CF bits on my car. Would buy again if I had another Miata!
