Description
The PRHT top is great, but the functionality could be better. Of course, what works for one person may not be great for the next, so ideally it could be customized to what each person wants. Fortunately, the MX5things PRHT roof controller solves those problems and more:
- One-touch top - raise or lower your top with a single button push, no more holding the button down until it's done.
- Auto mode - automatic roof lowering will start when the top latch is opened.
- Raise or lower the top while driving - no more having to stand still, it can now be operated at up to 30mph (48 kph).
- Reverse override - move the top while in reverse.
- Easy install - plug and play, and fully reversible. No cutting of any wires. Setting everything is easy but it does require a laptop.
- Programmable - plug your laptop in via USB, and control what options you want active and what values you'd like - e.g., you can change the speed limit for top operation to 15mph. The module can also be updated with this same method.
Preset settings are:
- Auto mode - enabled
- One-touch - enabled
- Speed setting - 30mph
Please note that this will not change the functionality of the power windows, you'll still need to manually raise them after putting the top up.

The RCNC-2 module shipping now has the same functionality as the RCNC module but uses a different configuration software. The sticker on the module indicates the hardware version. The RCNC is no longer available.

Makes top raising and lowering more pleasurable. The only down side was disconnecting the factory plug from the controller unit. I have relatively big hands so it was more challenging. However using a little good old American ingenuity, I was able to release the tab on the backside with a blunt dental pick. as the controller and plug orientation have very little room from the backside. After I installed it, I had the wife operate the top and she was really delighted, from the standpoint of not having to go through the lengthy ritual of pushing buttons, releasing the latch lever and holding down the button. Also not having to be in neutral, with parking break engaged really impressed her, as well as operating the top with the car moving forward or reverse, she had a really big smile on her face. She's happy, I'm happy. Thank you for making these modifications available!
Amazing
Installation instructions were spot on! One thing I'd recommend is having some type of mirror and tool for depressing the small button on the retaining clip for the stock plug. I used a paint can opening key and an inspection mirror to get the clip off. Once that was done, plug and play! Now, off for another drive!
Very quick and easy to install. An incredibly handy upgrade that allows you to raise or lower the roof at a red light without worrying about holding up traffic.
Works perfectly! Took a total of about 5 minutes to install. If you have an angled pic, that works perfectly to reach behind the harness connector and depress the lock. This box has a little Velcro patch that sticks right to the Velcro on the prht control unit. So easy. And the default settings are spot on. Auto opens the roof once you unlock the latch. One touch brings the roof back up. No need to hold any buttons down. And it will lower/raise the roof while in motion at 30mph or less. Anything over that, it will not engage. Which is good, as you don't want to bend the roof brackets going to fast(: It can be updated if plugged into a computer, but I really don't see that as being necessary. Right out of the box it is perfect! Very worthy upgrade.
