Description

This light strip mounts underneath the lip of the trunk lid so that it is not directly visible but casts a bright red light onto the gap that exists between the trunk lid and the rear bumper. The light ties together the linear portions of the factory rear tail lights making it look like one cohesive beam of light. It is illuminated whenever the running lights are on. Uses a plug-in-play jumper to make wiring a breeze.

Fits all 2024 and later Miatas.

Made by MX5Things.

For that luxury car look..

Up front, I did not buy my LED strip from FM. But, it's the exact same item, from a place you can get..."things".

Now, since I'm the first review here, let me tell you about how much you want this:

You want this, a lot.

Easy to install, and I recommend drilling the plug seals so they maintain their factory water tight fit in the hole. The connector isn't on the wires yet, so passing them through the drilled seal is simple. Don't ream out the drilled hole to clean it up, just let the drill pass through, and leave the hole "messy". This will ensure a tight fit for the wires and help keep water out. Test fit the EMPTY connector, and mark which side will take the red wire, and which the black. Very important to NOT switch them.

Try to keep the strip as close to the edge of the trunk lip, without exposing any of it. There is a tiny roll in the metal that you can see and feel, and use for a guide. I used painters tape to test fit the strip, and make sure it was evenly positioned left to right. Also, the instructions I had, showed a section of the foam sealing strip cut out to pass the wires through. Don't do that. Just cut a single slit, and wiggle the wires into it. I used a small dab of RTV to rejoin the slit, after installation was completed.

Now, when I first turned on the lights, I was disappointed that they didn't show up as well as the videos did. Then, I figured out that the Machine Grey paint subdued/absorbed the light in the day-time, but at night they are more than plenty bright. Obviously, the lighter color the paint, the more the LED's will be blazing.

So, yeah. You want this a lot :)
