Description

This plastic nose for the latch wears over time, and causes the latch to rattle. That's annoying. Luckily, Mazda planned for this and made them easy to replace. And then they discontinued the part!

Flyin' Miata to the rescue. We can now print replacements for you out of our Onyx material - it's stronger than the originals. Only from Flyin' Miata! Read more about our printers and material.

You will have to remove the latch from the top in order to replace this.  Sold individually, you will need one cap for each latch you want to restore.

The design of this part changed in November 2002. The early one has a rounded point, the late one has a squared off end. We believe the VIN for the change is 2003 models ending in 021101, but please visually inspect your car to be sure. This is the late version.

Replaces Mazda part ND30-R1-311.

Top lock caps work great!

Like every product I've purchased from Flyin' Miata, the top lock caps fit perfectly and were a breeze to install. I always try to keep one or two spares around as these are the pressure points of the top locking system and will eventually wear out or fail, so order an extra one or two when you place your order.

Great product

Thank goodness someone is still making these caps since Mazda decided not to produce them anymore. The only complaint I have is the material used to 3D print them does not seem as strong as the OEM. Be careful not to torque down the Philips screw too tight or you run the chance of snapping it.

Note from FM: Our Onyx material is very strong and the way we print these gives them maximum crush strength under the screw head. Even if you did manage to crush it, the material would deform instead of snapping. We have done destructive testing on them and there is no concern about breaking during installation.

Excellent

Been needing these for a minute, really solid and happy to finally have a soft top that isn't actively trying to give me tinnitus on my highway commutes
