Description
Improved! The rear shocks now have offset bushings for extra clearance between the spring and the halfshafts. This gives you a wider range of height adjustment. We have also gone to a single long front spring to give maximum travel without coil bind.
To answer one of the most common questions - yes, this price is for a full set of four.
An exclusive to Flyin' Miata! Like many of our other suspensions, this has been tortured at the Targa Newfoundland. Twice.
You'd be amazed at how many suspension systems we test at Flyin' Miata. Even with a full line of parts, we're always looking for good options to pass along to our customers. When we first tried the V-Maxx suspension from the Netherlands, we didn't expect it to be any good due to the low price. To our surprise, it was better than most - but it wasn't quite right. So we changed the spring rates and bumpstop design until we had an end result that met our expectations, and worked with the manufacturer to bring our version to market.
So what makes them work?
The fixed shock damping is well-matched to the springs. A 1/2" shorter rear shock body gives extra compression travel for improved ride and handling, even at lower ride heights. Since the spring perch is adjustable, you have full control over ride height and cornerweighting. The spring rates are 391 lb/in in the front and 258 lb/in in the rear, which gives a good handling balance. They also have a two-year warranty. Note that this kit doesn't include upper shock mount parts, as you can reuse your stock shock mount parts. It's a good idea to replace the rubber bushings though, that kit is listed above.
They're not quite in the same league as the Fox in terms of outright speed, but they do offer excellent value and are a good choice for someone who wants an inexpensive coilover setup. Includes both sets of springs, four shocks, adjusting tools and bumpstops.
We recommend the use of factory upper mounts only.

I was on the fence about doing this and losing driveability but it is amazing still just about as compliance as stock
I've been complacent about the ride quality of the 99 Hard-S. It's my commuter car and I was just used to it. My wife not so much. After test driving a few NCs and NDs I realized how rough the NB had gotten. Installed these and my wife was SO happy. I thought they were a little bouncy at first but lowered to FM recommendations. Better now. I guess I was used to the Flintstone ride quality before. Big thanks. Great improvement.
I'm very happy with my V-maxx setup. They were easy to install and I've done two rounds of height adjustment to get them within about 1/8" of where I want them. The interesting part is that the car rides better with the V-maxx setup than the stock springs and shocks. I chalk that up to the horrible damping on the wornout shocks.
I highly recommend them, especially for the price point.
The material quality of these things is beyond appalling, they look like some no-name junk you would buy off of eBay for $300. The fasteners are all junk with poorly-machined threads, there is rust on the threads of the shock shafts and the collar threads, and it's just embarrassing that FM would put their name on a product this low quality. They sat on a shelf in my garage for too long however, so now I'm stuck holding the bag as it were. I couldn't be more disappointed.
We tried to reach out to Eric to figure out what was going on here, but weren't able to get in touch. This definitely isn't what we're used to, and we'd love to dig into this. Eric, if you read this, please get in touch so we can figure out what's going on.
I had the Koni/FM spring setup on my previous (99) car, and then installed the V-Maxx Classics (along with FM sway bars and end links) on my 2004 earlier this year. These are both great kits, but overall I'd say the Koni/FM combo delivered the same handling benefit with a bit more of a refined ride. V-Maxx - even the classics" are a bit noisy and bouncy for my taste. I know they're priced well, but for similar money, if i had it to do over again i'd go Konis.
I guess the other element is ride-height adjustability, but IMHO it's more trouble than it's worth, The Konis stanced my '99 just right and I didn't have to worry about busting my knuckles with the stupid adjustment rings & wrenches.
