Description
The main relay is a weak point on the Miata. Both age and the electrical load from high volume fuel pumps conspire to take them out. If you're lucky, it'll fail while the car is parked - it just won't wake up again. If you're unlucky, it'll fail mid-corner in a race. Yeah, we've been unlucky. A failure like that cost us the lead in Targa Newfoundland.
This kit is designed to bypass the fuel pump relay. This provides an end-to-end wiring solution that is designed for higher loads, pulling power directly from the battery (or kill switch) and running it through 35A dedicated relay instead of the factory main and fuel pump relays. The harness comes pre-pinned to plug into your OEM fuel pump connector so the pump is controlled just like stock while the new mil-spec 14 awg wire takes the load. Uses factory connectors and mounting points and includes a 25A fuse.
This kit was originally designed by our friends at Trackspeed Engineering, since they're no longer producing parts we've taken over production.
Fits all NA and NB Miatas.
A good idea on any car that needs enhanced reliability over decades-old components. A very, very good idea on cars that run upgraded fuel pumps.

We had the periodic crank no start with our '99 Miata. Swapped fuel pump relay, main relay, checked fuel pump connections, etc. Finally ordered the FM Fuel Pump Rewire Kit and solved our starting problems. Has been a few weeks since the installation. Vehicle has ~270k on it and has been a very reliable car. Have plenty other FM parts added to vehicle over the years. We love FM!
Pretty sure this did the trick, had starting and stalling problems . No issues since, it has been a week will see what happens....so far so good.
Nice OE quality connectors and crimps. Install was pretty straight forward. Wish they had a video of a walk through of install on an NA Miata. Overall would recommend after melting 2 relays. Always keep spares. These cars are only getting older.
Very straightforward easy to install kit. I was having intermittent no start issues due to my fuel pump relay. So i got this kit for the reliability factor. So far so good!
Be careful running this on anything higher than a DW200 as the wire it pitifully thin and will have trouble pushing the amps needed to run higher grade equipment.
If you do the math on the amperage load and the wire length, 14 AWG is 100% safe and functional for up to 20 amps, thanks to the short lengths of wire necessary in a Miata. Per DeatschWerks, this kit would work great on a DW440, the biggest pump they make for a Miata (and good for tons of power, even with E85). While DW does suggest 10 AWG for the DW440 pump, that's because the wiring they include is about 17' long (30% longer than an entire Miata!).
All of that said, this kit won't solve wiring issues on parts it doesn't replace, so you'll want to make sure everything else is still in good shape.
