Description

The NC was a pretty rigid little car when it was introduced, but time moves on. As cars age, their chassis loosens up. A floppy chassis means less precision, more rattles and decreased ride quality as the chassis bends instead of letting the suspension deal with it.

We've also found that the rear subframes on high-power NCs want to move around and crack. This brace adds a lot of required strength to keep the car together.

Aluminum construction with red powdercoat.

Fits all NCs. Compatible with V8s as well as four cylinder cars.

Pain to install, but worth it.

This brace was a pain in the rear end to install. None of the bolt holes seemed to line up until I lifted the whole rear end by the differential (with jackstands just below the factory lift points). Then it had to be held flat to get all of the bolts in. Definitely want to have a helper to install this one, but I was able to do it by myself.

What a difference it makes! The squeaks and rattles are gone, the ride quality is significantly improved, and it firms up the rear end. Even if it didn't make the car more planted, the improved NVH is worth it.

4 stars because mine had a paint run and the included instructions listed the wrong torque on the bolts per the factory service manual. The two middle bolts are torqued lower than the four rear because they don't go into real nuts in the body, and pulling out the threads in the body nuts is really bad.

Fit

The long cross bar lands right at the front of the muffler. It should have been moved forward about 1 inch. As it is, the muffler is in contact with the bar.
