Description

Trade in your factory hoops for some real protection! The Hard Dog Sport is made of 1.75" diameter DOM tubing and sits 3" taller than the factory hoops to give you maximum clearance in case you have a bad day and end up upside down. The diagonals fit right through the cutouts for the stock hoops for a clean look. For added strength and chassis rigidity, two braces run backwards from the bar to the rear of the car. They're hidden below the top, but they provide extra support for the bar.

Given the position of the rear braces, this bar may not be accepted by all track organizations. Please check to see if you'd be able to use it in your area.

Be aware that you need to cut apart your stock "roll hoops" and use the center portion of it in your new roll bar. Stock seatbelt function is retained. This also means that you keep all of the retention points for the stock plastics. You can opt for the harness bar (pictured), which keeps you from needing to cut apart your stock roll hoops, but does add expense and makes attaching the stock plastics clumsy. If you want the harness bar, please add it (listed above) to your cart along with the roll bar.

For 2006-15 Miatas with a soft top only. The shape of the roof on Power Retractable Hard Top cars is not compatible with this bar.

Note that the pictures show a bar with the Petty bar, which isn't currently offered. We're working on new pictures!

Looks great at the end, not a lot of consideration for installation

It looks great but it was a pain to put together and the instructions were woefully lacking. The instructions were a great help getting everything apart but were very vague once it came time to install the bar. No instructions on where to cut to fit the bar, no consideration for different trims. It took us hours to put everything back together and even still half my car is now held together with zip ties.

I ordered the bar with the harness bar upgrade but even that turned out to be more of a pain than if I didn't have it. It's a bit misleading...it doesn't provide attachment points for a harness, it provides an attachment point for the roof latch. But if you look at the original roll bar, there are loads of attachment points not available on this roll bar.

It certainly felt like an accomplishment once it was all put together. I'm just bummed that a $600 roll bar lacked so much thought for putting the car back together.

As far as the harness bar not having attachment points for harnesses - typically, the shoulder belts for a harness are wrapped around a bar, which is the intention here. This is actually more flexible and less likely to cause issues than a single attachment point. Also, it's important to note that it is absolutely NOT SAFE to bolt a harness to the stock cross bar (part of the 'roll bar'). That bar, and those attachment points, are not intended for that kind of loading and are extremely likely to fail in the event of a crash. Please, please, please don't attach harnesses to any part of the stock 'roll bar'.
