Description
"...their stuff just works. I can't tell you how rare that is with aftermarket parts—too many companies just throw a bunch of spring and damper at a car and call it a day. (Coincidentally, most tuned cars blow goats.) FM's bits give gobs of travel and nice, progressive behavior at the limit." - Road & Track magazine
Our FM springs, FM sway bars and Koni Sport adjustable shocks work beautifully. It's what we use as our baseline for ride and handling - a suspension that can be driven on the interstate, on a daily commute and ripping around Laguna Seca. The sway bars let the car corner flatter and let you easily adjust the handling balance of the car, while the springs and shocks work together to keep the body under control. Every Miata will be happier with a Stage 2 suspension.
How much will this kit lower your car? We can't tell you, because Mazda changed the ride height of Miatas over the years. However, if you measure from the center of the wheel to the fender lip, you can compare your car to the final result. It's not a huge drop but once you drive the car you'll appreciate how well it works.
The shocks come with a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser (US/Canada only).

I can't begin to explain the difference between my stock "Hard S" suspension and the FM Stage 2 on my 2001 NB. Not only does the car handle better the ride quality improved dramatically. It's no 1980's Town Car but it's a lot more livable now on long trips. Dare I say the new compliance makes the car - comfortable and the car feels 15 years newer now than it really is. I have the shocks and sway bars set on the recommended FM settings for neutral handling and it's perfect.
*chefs kiss* That is all
Posted up about the install earlier and now it is time for the driving review.
Short story.. NB should have come with this stock..fantastic improvement...in my case the 2002 Se has only 23000 miles on it but as FM notes the bumpstops were all gone and the shock and suspension just felt loose and floppy not to mention the clunks and bumps from holes and bumps in the road.
FM 2.0 transformed that into a taut, yet still supple ride soaking up bumps easily. Corners way flatter too. I have the front bar set at the soft setting and the rear bar on the middle setting, with the Konis set at 1 click from full soft. Once everything gets broken iin, it will be time to test variuos settings and maybe do some "charity" laps with the PCA at Atlanta Motorsports Park in the North Ga mountains.
If you are on the fence about the FM 2.0 , just do it..you will love it !!!! :-)
Replaced my suspension that was worn out when I got the car and finally at 138k miles bought stage 2 for 2002 NB SE. This has been a great improvement and run it at full soft.
I installed this kit on my 99 NB, and I was amazed at the improvement. Rode like OEM (firm but never harsh), but cornered 100% better. Quality, fitment, lack of rattles, etc. was just amazing for this price point.
I know lots of folks will prefer the V-MAXX kit for similar money, to get the height adjustment. That's a personal preference, of course. For me, the preset ride height of the Konis was perfect - lower than stock but not stanced and cambered. Never rubbed once in any driving condition (running 15x8s with 205 tires). It looked purposeful - more go than show. I loved it.
