Mazdaspeed exhaust and midpipe
Mazdaspeed exhaust and midpipe

Description
Exclusive to Flyin` Miata and designed specifically for the Mazdaspeed MX-5, this exhaust will improve spoolup and support higher boost levels when paired with our downpipe. We measured a 23 hp and 26 lb-ft increase on our dyno. A handmade muffler allows the exhaust note to be a little deeper and a little louder, but still well behaved. It`s the sound the car should have had from the factory! It`s also the performance the car should have had from the factory, really.
Adding the exhaust system alone will allow the car to reach peak power 300 rpm sooner than stock and will save 6.5 lbs. Why did we not use the standard Mazda flange locations? Because we found that this design gave better performance and less noise. It`s also easier to build. And as a bonus, the whole system has a lifetime warranty. Warranty details.
For Mazdaspeed MX-5 only, not compatible with any other models. Legal in all states, including California. Legal for Solo II in stock class.
The FM midpipe flange and the factory downpipe flange use a different gasket in order to seal the exhaust system. We are aware the seal is not perfect and we found the best seal can be obtained by using the factory donut gasket. This imperfect seal will not be an issue with a Flyin` Miata downpipe. Lifetime warranty. 2.5" piping, 3" polished tip.

I just installed the flyin Miata exhaust, midpipe and downpipe on my MSM. It’s definitely worth doing and a great first mod. I use my MSM for track days and while I haven’t gotten to the track yet, I can feel a difference in horsepower and torque. It also Improves the overall character of the car. My mechanic said it was easy to install and everything is high quality. I’m waiting for the full Intake kit to be in stock so I can add it to the car but this exhaust package is definitely worth the money and really seems like it wakes the car up.
I purchased the Mazda Speed muffler and mid-pipe after looking at and listening to a lot of mufflers. I finally opted for the FM version because it seemed to be the only one designed for and tested on the MazdaSpeed Miata. I wanted simple diy installation, so ruled out the mufflers I had initially picked based on sound. The muffler and down-pipe arrived and I installed it last night. Nice quality product and the installation was straightforward--even for a new diy-er. The system is not as loud or sporty as I had hoped. (The Flyin Miata system for MSM was about the only one I couldn't find either in person or online to get a sense of its sound.) After only a few miles with it, I have to say that adding it did give a pretty good boost to power. I hadn't intended to gain power, but did. I had expected to gain sound quality, but didn't. I'll allow that the character of the sound is deeper and fuller than the stock muffler's but not much. I do hear the engine sound and the turbo better and that's good. I'm planning to add the full intake kit and hope that it might give another dimension and a few decibels to the sound.
Car previously had straight exhaust which smelled a lot at a stop. I then paired this with HFC and most of the smell went away. The overall sound is really good and it still provides performance that this car outputs. I highly recommend this piece. Get these while in stock! I really like the rolled tip and easy of installation. Great product!
Wow. I’m very impressed with this exhaust. There is a noticeable gain in low end power, smoother throughout the power band and decrease in spool time over just the FM downpipe. The exhaust note is very nice. Pretty deep with a nice rumble on startup. I would definitely buy again.
