Description
We designed this hose for our turbo kits - it gives better flow, has fewer failure points than stock and gives more room for the compressor outlet hose. The first two attributes are also useful for any Miata.
Silicone construction with approximately 9 layers. Fits any NA/NB Miata, and replaces a three-piece factory design on the NA cars. Included with all of our turbo kits shipped after August 2008. Please note that there could be some contact with this hose, but nothing that will cause premature failure. Check out the video below (fast-forwarded to the relevant section) for more details.
Your stock hose clamps won't fit with the thicker wall of this hose, so we include two new constant torque / tension hose clamps.
This hose will likely need to be trimmed to fit on the block side of the engine. This is especially true for MSMs.

This fit my non turbo, Koyorad 03' with AC perfectly. No cutting required. The new clamps supplied where a nice touch.
I bought this to clean up my (non-FM) turbo setup fully aware of the possibility that it wouldn't play nicely with some of my parts; what I did not expect was for the hose to just not really fit even without any turbo installed. As-is, the line goes off the block and makes a lot of contact with the chassis itself causing the line to buckle. I solved this by trimming 2-3 inches of the hose from the radiator side so it would be pulled away and that worked nicely. In addition to that the hose clamps are pretty disapointing; they're about 2 inches longer than they need to be causing them both to have a sharp edge sticking out. In the end it's better than stock, but it's not the level of quality I'd expect from FM.
Thanks for your order and review! Our silicone lower radiator hose was designed to fit in an already tight space to make room for our intercooler piping. We also intentionally designed the hose to be slightly longer than needed since it allows the end user to trim either end to suit their specific NA6/NA8/NB application. The included constant torque clamps are much more reliable than standard worm clamps, though for this specific diameter of silicone hose, the 'tail' can get a little long. Generally, we try to position the clamp so that the 'tail' is tucked up close to the fan shroud where it's less likely to grab you.
Definitely a squeeze in a 1.6 with ps and ac but fits and made room for my charge pipes
I’m installing a non FM intercooled turbo kit and was running into problems fitting my intercooler pipe around the ac, ps and stock rigid coolant hoses. This hose gave me enough flexibility to be able to squeeze everything in. Highly recommended!
I bought this because I was buying the intercooler pipe and that page told me that I will need this coolant hose. This hose is directly below my compressor outlet and doesn’t allow me to use the intercooler pipe that I wanted in the first place. I emailed flyin’ miata twice about it asking for suggestions and they never responded. Honestly expected better.
We've worked through this with Seth, and it appear that the adapter he had to use on the outlet of his non-FM turbo caused some fitment issues. That said, it's a very tight space in general, so some contact is typical and not a problem. As long as the silicone hose doesn't contact any sharp edges there shouldn't be any long term problems.
