Description
Want to make your Mazdaspeed into the car it should have been from the factory? Our Little Enchilada package includes everything you need to optimize the powertrain without getting into injectors or computer modifications. The end result does not cause check engine lights, provides more low-end torque and a smoother powerband with about 33% more power. All of our parts are designed to work as an integrated system, so you won't feel as if you're trying to patch together a bunch of unrelated bits.
If you want to take your stock Mazdaspeed up to right around 200 hp at the wheels, you'll follow the first four suggestions in our recommended upgrade path. We've taken these parts and bundled them together for you so you not only get a suite of products designed to work together, you also save money!
The Little Enchilada package includes the following:
FM intake
FM throttle body inlet pipe
recirculating Turbosmart bypass valve
FM O2 signal modifier
FM downpipe
FM midpipe and exhaust
FM intercooler
check valve kit
FM boost gauge kit and gauge pod.
The Little Enchilada will happily pass an OBD-II check, but it cannot be shipped to California as it does not have an EO. The downpipe cannot be shipped to Colorado, New York, or Maine due to emissions requirements. Emissions will not be a problem in any other state or province, as the cat is EPA-approved for this application. The intake is not compatible with RHD cars that have air conditioning.

I had this enchilada kit added to my MSM along with megasquirt and 700cc injectors , fuelpump etc.. it’s a nice kit and isn’t loud at all. Can hold conversations still without screaming. I had a turbo smart BOV fabricated / welded to the throttle body inlet pipe, sounds like a train . I can’t speak on what power the kit itself brought but stock I was making 155whp or so, after everything was done I got to 215whp and it feels a little spicy now . Also, didn’t use most of the clamps .only thing now is the car randomly shuts off (assuming it’s not getting enough air at idle or something ) and it smells rich . 10/10 would buy again
Great quality parts.
Great instructions.
Fairly straight forward install for anyone mechanically inclined.
Here is my suggestions/feedback:
1. Quality hose clamps! I would have liked to see more of them in the kit to replace some of the factory clamps that connect the pipes that get re-used.
2. Great fitment if you own a FM CF rad. Regarding the upper hot-side IC pipe: If you look at the pictures, you also have to re-use one of your upper hot-side pipes which for those who decided to go with a SuperMiata CF radiator, you will not be able to use the factory IC pipe bracket mount that mounts right near your driver side head-light. This is because the pipe will hit the radiator cap body so you have to insert the hose further into the FM pipe to back it away from the radiator cap. If you have a Flyin Miata CF rad, this won't be a problem as that cap sits differently. So kudos to FM for designing their CF rad that way, but I had to save some $ somewhere!
3. The downpipe flange that bolts to the turbo side doesn't seem to be flat. It was able to mate well without an exhaust leak... but that flange should be flat. I was also able to install the factory motor mounted bracket that goes around the downpipe with a little bending. The downpipe was probably the most difficult of the whole job along with the intercooler since the factory IC pipes needed some cutting.
4. The exhaust tip has the ability to position itself perfectly. So if your exhaust hangers end up putting the exhaust tip to sit un-even, don't worry... you'll note the clamp to loosen in order to move the muffler tip left/right and angle it more up/down!
5. Factory IC pipes needed cutting. For the price, I'd have liked to see some properly fitted pipes here. Wouldn't need to be polished, but it would have been nice. Hacking up original parts on a 20 year old collector car isn't something I prefer, but what's done is done now.
6. Amazing power and better response! It definitely makes the car louder. I tried it all out without the downpipe at first. It was noticeably louder than factory, but still very nice. After installing the downpipe is when it got "loud". It is no longer a car I can "creep" through a neighborhood with :D
7. For those like me that may have wanted to match your FM Boost gauge with an Autometer Wideband... do NOT buy the Autometer 4379 Ultralight. It has atrocious lag on the AFR display. It updates maybe 3 times per second. The output signal is real-time at least (ideal for the standalone ECU) but still not ideal for when you are eyeing your gauge.
The O2 signal modifier definitely works great. If you have an AFR gauge and want to test if your O2 is working, unplug the vacuum from your manifold, plug the manifold, and blow in the vacuum line that is now connected to your O2 signal modifier and have someone watch your AFR... it should go richer with positive pressure!
I confirmed mine working.
To those wondering about power... I cannot say how much power my MSM made with this kit because of the following:
Regardless of turning my boost all the way down on the MBC, I couldn't get it to go lower than 10psi.
Every once in a while when its cold outside, the factory boost-cut kicks in and the car will buck.
I tried a mod that disabled the factory boost cut with some resistors (which worked) but it only exposed the fact that the car does not have enough fuel being delivered for even 10psi.
Even tried the Zener Diode mod for TPS.
This basically means the following:
The Little Enchilada kit is too bad-ass for the MSM fuel system.
I tried getting "Supra" injectors (312cc) that upgrade from the factory 265cc that were supposed to be PNP with the factory ECU, but they ran horribly, and still leaned out on the top end.
I bit the bullet and bought a MegaSquirt3 Pro PNP for the MSM and found out that 312cc injectors, along with a DW100 (165LPH) fuel pump STILL isn't enough fuel to tame the extra air that the engine is hurling. Fuel pump is sufficient, but it turns out I either need to install ~450cc or ~550cc injectors to feed all the extra air.
With the 312cc injectors, I run out of fuel at 5k RPM (starts quickly going over 13afr which is no good at all).
The Mazda RX8 has "Yellow" 450cc injectors from the manual version. And the Automatic has "Blue" 550cc injectors. They plug right into the MSM. They are a cost-effective option for those not looking to spend hundreds on FIC/ID/DW/etc...
I haven't decided on an injector yet, but once I get the right injector and size, the MSM will absolutely fly with the FM LE kit. It will likely put out 190-220whp.
Will report back once I situate injectors and finish the tune.
The FM LE with proper fueling is what the MSM was supposed to be!
Thanks for your review and we're glad you're happy with our kit! A couple of notes about our downpipe: The flange to the turbine outlet isn't flat on purpose - it has a very slight conical (bowed) shape to allow a better seal than a completely flat flange. Also, we generally do not run a downpipe brace because we've had issues with stressed exhaust components cracking. If you had to use any kind of pressure to put the brace around our downpipe (preload), then you should remove it immediately to prevent damage that wouldn't be covered under warranty. It also sounds like there is something funky going on with your manual boost controller as that's not the expected behavior and should work fine with the factory ECU and fuel injectors. Please call/email us directly so we can help get that sorted out.
I purchased just the FM intake package in 2021 and saw only minor improvement in the smoothness of the spool up, and a lot of unwanted noises that drown out the exhaust (I since learned that most people like this). There was also an unnatural loss of power between 2k and 3.5k rpm. Only yesterday did I install the O2 signal modifier that came with the package.
What I thought was lack of air was actually a lack of fuel that this O2 gadget corrects. Now it is a totally different car. You can hear the intake suck in air all the time and there is a virtually linear power band. Makes the whole upgrade worth it. I can't believe I waited 4 years to install this little magic box! I give it 4/5 only because there are too many crazy noises coming from under the hood.
So far I have only installed the intake and boost gauge but I am falling in love with my 05 MSM all over again. Also customer support was very helpful answering the questions I had during install. The instructions could be a smidge clearer at times, but if you use your brain enough you can figure it out.
I own a pristine 2005 MSM that received the FM Lil Enchilada kit almost 15 years ago! It transformed the Miata from a good experience to a GREAT one! It's been bullet-proof reliable and frankly while I could replace the car at any time, the FM parts make it a forever keeper! THANKS Flyin Miata for continuing to support one of the world's finest driving experiences ever!
Wow! We're proud and glad to hear that your Little Enchilada kit has been going strong all this time! Thank you very much for sharing your experience with our parts!
