Description
If you remove the FM reroute from your engine, you're basically guaranteed to need a new gasket. Be prepared with the right one. You could use a generic Miata thermostat gasket and trim it to fit, but why bother when you can simply stick this one on? Die-cut to the perfect shape and adhesive-backed, it doesn't get much easier than this. These are now included with current kits.

A few years ago I put the reroute kit on, and it came with a cork gasket. Well, that gasket failed on the highway...
The new gasket seems more conventional instead of cork, so hopefully I don't spray my coolant out the back of my engine again.
This is also the most frustrating part I've ever replaced, and seriously considered pulling the engine just to do it.
We tried reaching out to Phillip about this, but weren't able to get a hold of him. Sorry for the trouble with the older-style gasket! As the review mentions, we used to have a custom-cut cork gasket for our reroute kits, and they could be a bit fiddly to install correctly. Unfortunately, under-tightening or over-tightening just a little could cause a leak, so we changed to a custom-cut fiber (paper) gasket to allow for easier install with a greater chance of successfully sealing the reroute housing to the head. In our testing, these new gaskets are much more reliable and less finicky to install.
