Cipher steering wheel for ND
Cipher steering wheel for ND

Description
The steering wheel is one of your primary points of contact with your car. It's amazing what a difference you feel by changing it out. Unfortunately, that usually means losing the air bag and that's more than most people are willing to do. It also means losing all the on-wheel controls, which is just not cool.
Enter Cipher wheels! These quality wheels are a direct bolt-in replacement for your stock unit and retain your stock airbag and controls. They're not just stock replacements, either - the wheel is contoured to be exceptionally comfortable and has a very slightly flattened bottom for a bit more leg room. The real leather feels great under your hands and the cross-section of the wheel is slightly thicker for better grip. The overall diameter is the same as stock other than the flat bottom.
Comes with grey, red, or blue stitching. This model fits ND airbags and controls. This has the mounting points for the auto transmission's shift paddles, so it should work great, but we haven't installed one of these steering wheels in an automatic ND yet.
The blue version is the old style and is on sale until they're gone. Note that the old (blue) version has a smaller cross section to the steering wheel, as well as a less pronounced flat-bottom, which you can see in the pictures.
The installed picture shows the old design (still available in the blue version).
Made from all new parts, not reworked old wheels. No core charge.

Dry fit it before taking the time to swap out your steering wheel control pieces. I bought a Cipher steering wheel for my ‘23 ND. I removed the old steering wheel, in accordance with the videos from You Tube, after taking all the time to swap over the controls it was time to install it in the car.. That’s where the problem started.. the new Cipher steering wheel would not fit. so I called tech support at Flyin’ Miata.. the tech said that Cipher changed vendor for the spline bushing and it now has a tighter tolerance.. and I tried a few they they suggested.. still no bueno. We took it off and measured the spline bushings on both wheels .. the Cipher wheel was almost 1 mm smaller and would not slide onto the steering spline. Bummer.. I was so excited, but now disappointed. Flyin’ Miata processed a warranty return and now I am just waiting for the refund. Quick service
R.B. is right, the current batch of ND Cipher wheels do have a pretty tight fit. We've checked them here and were able to install them, but it's more of a struggle than it's been in the past.
