Rear caliper rebuild kit
Rear caliper rebuild kit
Collapsible content
Description
The stock calipers can be adequate for a lot of people, but they're not exactly new anymore. Fortunately, we have the parts to make them new again. These are complete rebuild kits, that include every part you need to refresh your calipers. Specifically:
- All seals
- All dust boots (for pistons and guide pins)
- New guide pins
- New piston
- New bleeder screw
- The proper lubes to put it all together - one for the piston and a different type for the guide pins
Naturally, these are all high-quality parts - made in Spain, TUV-certified, and warrantied for 2 years / 24,000 miles. Don't risk it with a cheap or incomplete kit, if you're going to spend the time and effort, do it right.
Please note that these are sold individually - each kit will rebuild one rear caliper. To refresh both of your rear calipers, you'll need two kits.
Please be sure that you're purchasing the correct kit for your car - if you've swapped calipers, be sure you're buying the appropriate kit for your calipers, not necessarily your chassis.
This listing is for rear rebuild kits only. Front rebuild kits are listed separately and linked above.

Good quality parts and a helpful video that made things go smoothly, though some steps were not so easy as indicated in the demo. Much more cost effective than an OEM replacement caliper.
I wanted to rebuild the rear brake calipers on my MX-5 NB, so started looking at options. I quickly found the video that Mike from Flyin Miata did on the topic. He explained in detail how the calipers works and what's involved. I sent for the rebuild kits which arrived promptly (I'm in Australia!). It's the most comprehensive kit I've found and includes a new piston, seals, pins - the lot. The whole kit works beautifully. I'm really pleased with the quality of the parts, the quality of the "how to" video and the overall experience with Flyin' Miata. 10/10.
I bought this kit because the cylinder in one of my rear calipers had actually broken apart and was dumping fluid. So, I figured if I was rebuilding one, I'd rebuild all four.
-Install was very easy and straight forward (I'd never rebuilt any sort of hydraulic cylinder before) took about three hours to rebuild all four of my brake calipers.
-After properly adjusting the rear brakes the car the brake engagement felt amazing (I'd also rebuilt the front calipers and replaced the rotors, pads, brake hoses, and brake master)
-Had to also replace the rear caliper adjuster bolts since both of mine were stripped. This kit does not include them, but OEM part is BW0H-26-733
I would recommend that if you rebuild the rear calipers, get the adjuster bolts in advance (one per rear caliper, therefore two for the whole car. the front calipers do not use adjuster bolts) or pull your current adjuster bolts to verify they're not stripped before you begin disassembly.
I did this install about 2 and a half months ago and the brakes still feel perfect.
