Description
Under hard braking, the firewall will actually deform, allowing the brake pedal, booster and master cylinder to move. Yes, even on the ND Miatas. This flex takes away some of your brake pedal stiffness and makes it more difficult to balance the car on the edge of lockup because there's essentially a big spring in the system. You'll find your braking will be more precise and will require less pedal travel.
This simple brace bolts into your Miata and keeps the master cylinder right where it's supposed to be. It's adjustable for a perfect fit. At under two pounds, the brace is able to reduce firewall deflection by 85% under heavy braking.
For left-hand drive cars only! Compatible with factory shock tower braces. It is not compatible with the Fiat 124 Spyder as it interferes with the coolant bottle.
Cars equipped with our CAN integration kit for the Hush-o-Matic exhaust that came with a short (2" long) solenoid mounting bracket will require the new, longer (3" long) bracket. That can be purchased separately (will be available shortly).

After installing a LBBK and stainless lines, I liked the improvement in brake pedal firmness and modulation but felt there should be more improvement. I prefer brakes to be "force-sensitive" rather than "travel-sensitive". This is a street and occasional autocross car not a hardcore track car, but the brake feel and modulation is important to my perception of driving enjoyment. I installed this brace, not expecting it to make much difference except in the hardest braking scenarios. But I was pleasantly surprised that the brake feel improvement is quite noticeable even during street driving.
Installation is straightforward. One of the bolts is a bit tedious to tighten with many small turns of a box wrench (none of my ratcheting type of devices fit the narrow space). Just make sure you carefully study the correct arrangement and order of the nuts and washers of the plunger rod BEFORE you mount the whole thing in the car (don't ask me why I offer that particular advice ... )
Nice piece. Easy install.
I haven’t actually driven the car with this brace installed yet, but I’ll write a review anyway.
Installed but not driven because this is on a pretty long term project car. Car is a 2019 ND2 GT. Many mods.
Many “improvements”. But back to the brace. This thing is a piece of metal art. Way overbuilt. No way it can’t do what it is supposed to do. Installation was simple. Fender liners were out so it only took a few minutes. The brace bolts to a very sturdy part of the car so I expect nothing but great results.
High quality product
Very well-built and the finish is great. Very easy install as well, but you will most likely have to remove the clips for the fender well to get to it. But it was no big deal.
