Oil filter (NA/NB/ND)
Oil filter (NA/NB/ND)

Description
We offer two oil filters for your Miata. They're both quality filters that we've been using for years.
Our high capacity filter is 1" longer than stock for 40% more capacity. This means more surface area of the filtering media and less pressure loss through the filter. It also means it can trap more dirt before the bypass opens. This is a high quality Bosch filter with an internal check valve, just like the factory recommends. If you have the extra room in your engine bay - most NA and NB Miatas do - we recommend it. Unfortunately, the high capacity filter does not fit the ND.

The oil filter fit fine on my 1996 NA, but there is not enough clearance to use an end cap oil filter wrench for removal.
Note from FM: we're assuming this refers to the extended capacity version, as the stock version is the same length as, well, stock. We've never tried to use an end cap oil filter wrench with the extended version, as our hands or a strap-wrench have always worked well. Also, if you remove the intake manifold brace (which has been missing from most of our cars for many years and miles) the end cap oil filter wrench should still work.

I tried to install the high capacity filter on my 2002 with VVT, unfortunately it seems like the filter was about 1/8" too long. Although I can fit it over the threads I cannot get it straight enough to thread on.
Fit great in my 2000, glad to have replaced my original filter with an improved one. Should have bought two for the future.
High capacity unit fits easily in my '04 MSM.
