Description
Update an old FM turbo with our latest and greatest intercooler piping! This is the same piping used in almost all kits sold since 2006, with multi-layer silicone. Strong, durable, almost impossible to blow off and light, they're the ideal option.
This is part of our "intercooler upgrade kit", but does not include the intercooler itself. Includes the following:
- Compressor to intercooler silicone hose
- Intercooler outlet silicone hose
- Throttle body inlet silicone/steel hose
- FM silicone lower radiator hose
- Wastegate bracket (to reclock the Garrett GT2560R turbo)
- All hardware and hose clamps
Please note that this system doesn't include a port for an intake air temperature sensor. For a number of reasons, it's best to put that in the outlet tank of your intercooler (if you have such a sensor).
Generally speaking, you want to match the year of your engine. A lot of the parts are identical, but there are a couple of things to know:
- The throttle body inlet is the main part that's different between the years. It's typically beset to match the year of the kit to the throttle body that you're using.
- The other different part is the compressor outlet hose that runs to the intercooler. The 1990-93 version will work with all years, but is necessary for fitment with the 1990-93 AC compressor (or more specifically, its lines).

After looking at the box of old junk 2" and 2.5" tubing and connections I had acquired over the last couple of years to build my own intercooler piping, I decided to just go ahead and order these intercooler pipes.
I used a Mishimoto Z-line intercooler that I got used a few years ago in preparation for going 'budget' turbo, and made brackets similar to the FM setup. The Mishimoto inlet and outlet are more like a 2.65" measurement as opposed to the advertised 2.5" so it was difficult to get the hoses over the intercooler inlet/outlet. I warmed the hoses in some near-boiling water and a little silicone lube. They went on with massive effort, burned fingertips and maximum swearing. Hopefully they stand up to the stretching long term. Everything looks great a month after install.
This setup allows piping to squeeze into spots that would be pretty much impossible with aluminum pipes, and it will be great to retain AC and PS with the turbo.
Really glad to have all the clamps and related hardware, that's a nice bonus that saves money over buying everything separately. Kinda wish it included the turbo intake hose, but that's not hard to source.
Now to figure out what to do with all the junk hoses and pipes I've amassed. Maybe a rodent enclosure with intercooler pipes as obstacles? I dunno.
