Description
The Miata has always had one of the best feeling shifters on the planet. But as they get older, some of the components start to wear and it slowly loses precision. You might not even notice, but it's not what it was. Luckily, it's easy to rebuild, and you can access everything from inside the car.
This kit includes all the pieces you need to make your shifter feel new again. All internal components are factory Miata parts, the boot is a high-quality aftermarket equivalent.
For 1999-05 5-speed transmissions as well as 1999-01 6-speed (production up to 08/01/01).

small shift boot (R501-17-47Z) lower shift bushing (0398-17-462A) upper shifter pivot ball bushing (R502-17-492) smooth wave washer (8599-17-482) tabbed wave washer (M505-17-482) lower shifter pivot ball bushing (R503-17-492)

Everything is provided in this package with the exception of the large shift boot. I purchased it as well as both my boots were ripped. Easy install but a bit of confusion on YouTube about fluid type and amount to use. For the 5 speed transmission the Mazda shop manual states to apply silicone grease to the plastic bushings and to add 80 to 95 cc of 75w-90 GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil to the turret. Also to apply sealant to the gasket surface of the small shift boot that way you don't need to over tighten the 10 mm bolts. The large shift boot can handle a little more torque as those bolts go into metal not aluminum. Shifter feels perfect now.
My shifter was in need of a rebuild because the boots were worn so bad that they tore and leaked head oil onto my exhaust. Shifter felt 10x better! So smooth and sturdy, helped a lot with sound deadening too

Both the small and large boots on my car were completely torn. After this quick install, this and the large boot made my shifter feel brand new. No more sloppy wiggle in all 6 gears and allowed for more confidence while finding gears. Helped with some sound deadening too without all the tears. 00 special edition
