Description
Styled after the classic Cobra rollbars, the Deuce gives protection with some style. Most "double-hoop" bars are purely for style with very little strength, but this is a real Hard Dog.
Two hoops protrude about 18" above the rear parcel shelf and are supported by a rear brace. A solid multi-point mounting system hidden underneath the rear deck ensures the Deuce offers more than pretty looks. The bar is back far enough that it will not interfere with the seats at all. The lower height of this bar does mean that it's basically impossible to get a helmet below the top of the bar, and the lack of a single full-width roll hoop means it will not necessarily be accepted for track day use. Check with your local track day groups for more details.
Fits any NA or NB Miata, regardless of top or rear window. The only exception is the center-braced Deuce - it will not work with the Robbins or Duetto zip-out glass window tops. The side braced version works in this case.
Some of the pictures show a polished stainless version of this bar, which is no longer available. The brace arrangement is the same, however, which is why we include the pictures. Current bars will be 100% powder coated black, including the side or center braces.

I installed one of these this past week. Watched a video or two on installing it that were very helpful. The week prior, I installed a Robbins Canvas top (Factory Style) with a glass window. I am happy to report, the window clears the roll bar! I have the center braced version. Very happy with the end result. Had it powdercoated bronze to match the wheels and it turned out awesome!
These roll bars are excellent. The fit was perfect and I agree with the other review in that it will take longer than you first might think to fit it. You must ensure you have the right tools fir this job 90 degree drills, spot weld cutters etc. Probably one of the critical parts is cutting the carpet around the roll bar once its is fitted. It is very tricky to cut the carpet perfectly around the roll bar, when the bar is fitted teh carpet is in the air and you need to squash it in place and then start cutting. The first cut around the first roll bar support will need to be accurate, because the carpet will then move into place. If you miscalculated this cut then the hole around the roll bar support will be larger than needed. On mine I fell victim to this trap. So cut carefully and take your time. A razor blade makes a nice cut. But as far as the Deuce roll bar goes, it is the best looking bar for a Miata. The stainless steel finish is superb as well.
Note from FM: We often recommend setting down the tools after installing the bar but before cutting the carpet. Come back the next day when you're fresh and have lots of patience before cutting.
Installation took quite a few hours, but the directions were flawless. The only reason for the three stars is the finish. I left the protective foam on the bars until the installation was finished. When I took the protective wrap off the powder coat was scratched horribly. None of this is FM�s fault as it was drop shipped from the manufacturer. But I was pretty frustrated to know that all the preventative measures I took to keep them clean was wasted as the finish from the factory was subpar.
