1990-97 Flyin` Miata rear shock mounts
See customer reviews of this product. A lowered 1990-97 Miata has a weak point - a lack of suspension travel in the rear. Our redesigned shock mounts give 20 mm more compression travel for the shock, which translates to 33 mm (about 1.25") of travel at the wheel. This means that a lowered car will have the same travel as a stock one! Track tested on our competition cars.
Unlike other mounts on the market, these will not affect ride height at all. They are intended to increase suspension travel with springs that lower the ride height. Other mounts available on the market will lower your car - this is important! They also offer significantly more compression travel than the NB conversions we also sell. A big thanks to John Evans for the original idea and Mykael Kallerman for design work!
For longevity, the mounts are milled from aluminum billets and anodized. A teflon-lined, stainless steel spherical bearing locates the top of the shock. This bearing (sometimes incorrectly referred to as a "pillowball") won`t increase harshness at all, but can transmit a bit more noise from inside the shock. This will usually be just a little squishing noise on big suspension movements, such as driving into a driveway. It`s kind of fun really.
The included bumpstops are a multi-cellular urethane construction and improve travel even further. These bolt right in place of stock mounts and are compatible with 2.5" coilover springs (such as the Ground Control) as well as the stock sizes. They will not work with the Koni complete coilover setup due to a slightly larger spring diameter, however. Not for use in conjunction with both the Koni Sport (yellow) shocks and the FM springs, as they can cause coil bind problems. You can use them with one of those two parts, but the combination of both is the problem.
Sold in pairs. Not recommended for 1999-05 Miatas or for use on the front. Why not? Because if you increase the front suspension travel too much, you`ll simply put your wheels into the fenders. We do recommend a pair of our bumpstops for the fronts.
Available to fit all Miata shocks other than the AFCOs. Please specify shaft size when ordering. If your shock is not on this list, please check the diameter of the shaft. If you did not have to drill out the hole in your stock perches, it`s 10 mm.
10 mm: fits KYB AGX, KYB GR2, Tokico Illumina, Koni STR-T (orange), Tokico HP and stock shocks.
12 mm: fits Koni Sport (yellow) shocks.
9/16": fits Advance Design shocks.
