The 2006 FM Open House
Another fun Open House has come and gone.
The track day was a little different. We ran the track backwards. It's a very different experience, with an off camber, decreasing radius, downhill "straight" that runs into a tight hairpin. There's some definite pucker factor involved but all 44 drivers managed to keep things on the track. Well, at least one wheel on the track anyhow. Records were not just broken but destroyed.
Friday night, everyone headed to the Sonic for bench racing, underhood inspections, impromptu tech sessions on the new turbo kits and of course - Sonic burgers and limeades.
42 cars managed to make it out to Palisade for the Peach Festival parade. It's hard to believe, but this little Colorado town has some of the best peaches around. Then it was back to Flyin' Miata World Headquarters for test drives, a close look at new designs and cookies. Jeremy spent 5 hours locked in a room with various Miata owners, passing along the secrets of both the Link and the Hydra Nemesis.
Saturday night was a fun evening with good food, prizes for the top track times and goodies for everyone.
Bright and early on Sunday morning, 30-odd cars headed out to Gateway for a good meal and a tour through the museum. 17 cars then headed off for the twisty and scenic Long Way Home tour.
If you were at the Open House and have some good photos to share, please send them to us.

Braking hard in our 1999. The track has one really fun corner when we run in this direction with a real pucker factor.
