You could do this at home - we're making a very quick Miata using normal tools.
|
|

May 15, 2012 - We start a new project, "Moonshine" for a Kentucky customer. Moonshine will be Igor's better looking cousin, same mechanical package, but not multi-colored. entry 1

May 15, 2012 - A lot of stuff comes in the Igor package, doesn't even look like it will all fit into this little car. And this doesn't include the rollbar or the already installed clutch/flywheel happy meal. entry 2

May 15, 2012 - The normal maintenance items are being addressed, too. Both shifter boots were a little crunchy, of course. entry 3

May 16, 2012 - The heart of the matter. entry 4

May 18, 2012 - One way to not have a big ugly thermostat housing sticking out the front when you do a coolant reroute. entry 5

May 18, 2012 - Turbo is in, timing belt back on and coolant reroute done (well, not counting the radiator). More plumbing next! entry 6

May 21, 2012 - Not very exciting, but good to have. Turbo oil return hardline. entry 7

June 6, 2012 - Moonshine will need to keep his cool staying ahead of the revenuers! entry 8

June 6, 2012 - Cross-flow radiator and full Stage II fan/shroud kit. entry 9

June 11, 2012 - Keeping with the Moonshine theme, we have added a condensing coil, er, oil cooler. entry 10

June 12, 2012 - Moonshine has a new smile. entry 11

June 13, 2012 - Starting to look like something now! And always a good sign when we start putting fluids back in. entry 12

June 14, 2012 - Moonshine just got smarter with a brain transplant. entry 13

June 15, 2012 - It's alive! Almost done, er, not really. Still frame rails/butterfly brace, V-maxx stage 2, FM big brakes and a rollbar....but it does run! entry 14

June 18, 2012 - All sorts of stiffening jokes come to mind, but we'll act like adults just this once. Frame rails and butterfly brace clear the 3" exhaust with plenty of room and minimal impact on ground clearance. This car is nice underneath, no hammering required on the stock rails. entry 15

June 19, 2012 - Moonshine makes her first appearance on the dyno. First pull revealed the original 13 year old fuel pump wasn't cutting it at 2.5 times the stock power. In with a Deatsch pump and all the power is there. Very healthy car! entry 16

June 20, 2012 - All that power needs some stopping and handling to match. V-maxx suspension and Wilwood brakes team up. entry 17

| June 28, 2012 - Just need to finish up the rollbar, install the boost gauge, align and trim under panels.
entry 18 |

June 29, 2012 - Why an empty bay? Because Moonshine has left the building! Back soon from the alignment shop for last little tweaks. entry 19

July 3, 2012 - Moonshine's new owner Pat flew out to take her home. Thanks, Pat! entry 20
