Competing in the Open Track Challenge, Day 0
Registration and tech, Pahrump
The day was fairly relaxed for the FM team [unlike some others]. We spent it putting our sponsor decals on, installing pit radios and generally hanging out. Late in the day was registration - a little chaotic, but a great opportunity to see the level of preparation of various teams. The Miata drivers all congregated in the parking lot to hang out - most of us know each other from other events all over the continent.
Starting to look like a race car - some of our sponsors.
To install our radio antennas, we did a little surgery. Note the two-day-old Mini Cooper S in the background.
A modified Lotus 340R is one of the other cars we're up against. The parking lot of the Pahrump Nugget was full of some exotic machinery!
Brian Bonn and his V8 Miata. Toby Weir-Jones is co-driving. This beast makes some wonderful noises.
Putting on the official numberplate.
Dan Scolnick and the Team Flyin' Girlie Car mascot. That's not how her outfit is supposed to fit, Dan...
